How I Teach

I teach French horn lessons with a focus on ease and soulfulness. My goal is to help students build a natural, unforced approach to the horn—one that allows for musical freedom and consistency of performance. I draw on various methods, including the Carmine Caruso system as it was taught to me by the great Julie Landsman, as well as the teachings of Jerome Ashby and John Zirbel.

My approach is well suited to high school and college students as well as aspiring professionals.

The Carmine Caruso Method

I incorporate elements of the Carmine Caruso Method to help students develop physical coordination, evenness of sound, consistency of articulation, and stamina. These exercises, taught to me by the great Julie Landsman, offer a structured way to develop your playing through timing-based exercises.
